Man City to make shock move for crocked Southampton striker

Manchester City are believed to be lining up a shock £20million transfer bid for Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez as they look to bolster their forward line when the summer transfer window opens, according to Metro.

The Citizens – who edged Liverpool to the Premier League title last season but have endured a highly disappointing trophyless campaign this time around – are keen to strengthen their attack and want to relieve the burden from the shoulders of top scorer Sergio Aguero.

Rodriguez hasn’t made a single appearance for the Saints in the Premier League this season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in April of last year, which makes Man City’s intention to make a move for him surprising to say the least.

Southampton’s season seems to be petering out after their 2-1 loss at Sunderland on Saturday left them four points behind Liverpool in the race for Europa League qualification, while third-placed Manchester City face Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
