Man City to use flop to land Man United target

Manchester City are ready to use Stevan Jovetic as a bargaining tool to beat Manchester United to Juventus ace Paul Pogba, according to reports from The Mirror.

The France international has emerged as one of the world’s best young midfielders since leaving the Red Devils as a youngster, winning back-to-back Serie A titles while establishing himself as one of the Turin giants’ key players.

His form has alerted a host of big clubs, with United thought to be ready to smash the British record transfer fee of £59.7m they paid for Angel di Maria last summer to get a deal done for their former youth star.

But City are also keen, and are ready to make Juve a tempting proposal which will include Jovetic.

The Old Lady are known to be interested in the Montenegrin forward, whose future with the Sky Blues looks bleak following the arrival of Wilfried Bony and manager Manuel Pellegrini’s decision to remove him from his Champions League squad ahead of the knockout round.

City are keen to use this to negotiate a deal for Pogba, who could be used as a replacement for Yaya Toure.
