Real Madrid have made Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero their major transfer target going into 2016 as they seek to add a genuine world class striker to their ranks, according to reports from BuzzSport.
The Argentine has already cemented himself as one of the Citizens’ all-time greats despite only joining the club in 2012 with 116 goals in in 176 appearances – including the effort that won the club’s first league title.
But his time at the Etihad Stadium could come to an end shortly if Real get their way, with reports claiming that the La Liga giants have made Aguero their prime target.
The Spaniards already have Karim Benzema to call on at centre-forward, but it’s claimed that City’s main man is seen as a better option.
A player of Aguero’s status and skill could also be a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, who has been heavily aligned with a move away from Madrid in recent months.
City are unlikely to be open to a deal, but should the player himself agitate for a move back to Spain – he played for Atletico Madrid before moving to Manchester – they could be forced to do business.
