As the Premier League season draws to a close, Manchester City have been in a celebratory mood. The Citizens were looking to add to their title success with an individual accolade for their Brazilian stopper, Ederson Moraes.
City signed the goalkeeper from Benfica for £35 million last summer in a world record fee for a goalkeeper in British currency.
Ederson enjoyed a successful debut season putting in some impressive performances as City regained the Premier League title and lifted the English League Cup.
However the keeper’s exploits were not enough to warrant a place in the PFA Team of the Year with Manchester United’s David De Gea claiming the prize for the fourth time in five years.
Ederson though has responded by getting his own award, the keeper now has a Guinness World Record under his belt.
Ederson was successful in his third attempt at breaking the record for ‘longest football drop kick’. The 24-year-old’s third drop kick travelled 75.35 metres only just breaking the previous record of 75m.
Jubilant City fans didn’t need a second invitation to take the opportunity to celebrate another record broken.
We put together the best of the reaction..
