2016 was a year of change for Manchester City and their supporters as the dawning of a new era occurred at the Etihad Stadium with Pep Guardiola taking over in the dugout.

Some things haven't changed in Ashton Road as a shoddy defending, goalkeeping errors and the increasing age of the squad are yet to be truly addressed, but nonetheless, things haven't been all bad in Manchester, and City have scored some remarkable goals over the past twelve months.

Incredible goals are not something the City faithful are unfamiliar with, as since the Middle Eastern takeover in 2008, the Citizens have recruited a fair few world-class talents and claimed silverware on a few occasions.

From solo goals to long range efforts, the Etihad Stadium has been the venue for some exceptional strikes this season and the back end of 2015/16.

To celebrate City's 2016, we have decided to open the vault and look through the FIVE best goals scored by the club last year...

5. Raheem Sterling - Arsenal

Before this season, Raheem Sterling looked a player short of confidence, but the arrival of Pep Guardiola at the club seems to have changed that.

The winger had struggled to cope since his £44million move from Liverpool in 2015, yet this campaign Sterling is showcasing his enormous talent.

Not only was his goal against Arsenal exceptional, it guaranteed City three points against a potential title rival.

4. Sergio Aguero - Norwich

It's been a mixed year for Sergio Aguero, with the forward scoring 27 goals in just 31 games over the past twelve months.

Regardless of his disciplinary issues, the brilliance of Aguero remains, and his phenomenal talent was there for all to witness at Carrow Road in January when his solo goal against the Canaries booked City a place in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

3. Kelechi Iheanacho - Bournemouth

Have we seen a better counter-attacking goal all campaign than Kelechi Iheanacho's effort vs. Bournemouth in September?

The Nigerian rounded off a scintillating break that witnessed Guardiola's side rip through the heart of the Cherries' defence in eleven seconds.

Clever passing by De Bruyne, Nolito and Sterling ensured Iheanacho just had to pass the ball into an empty net. A textbook Guardiola team goal.

2. Aleksandar Kolarov - Bournemouth

Beautiful goals against Bournemouth these past twelve months have been easy to come by for City.

Rewind to April last season and a visit to the South Coast saw the Citizens run out comprehensive winners over Eddie Howe's men as they kept up their charge towards Champions League qualification.

Aleksandar Kolarov's goal ensured the visitors left the Vitality Stadium with a comfortable 0-4 victory and his sensational strike is still fondly remembered.

1. Kevin De Bruyne - Paris Saint-Germain

Kevin De Bruyne has popped up with some spectacular goals in 2016, but his winner for City during their Champions League quarter-final victory over PSG tops our list.

Not only did De Bruyne provide City fans with a moment of sheer brilliance, but the Belgian also gave the Etihad Stadium one of its finest memories.

The result ensured City became Champions League semi-finalists for the first time.
