As Manchester City's season nears the halfway stage, there have been green shoots of improvement under Pep Guardiola which must leave the club confident of another title challenge, even if there have been slips to date.

The team have scored some impressive goals this season as they go in pursuit of a third Premier League title in six years, and here at FootballFanCast, we have decided to open the vault and dig out some cracking strikes from City's campaign thus far.

Nonetheless, for the Citizens to overcome their nearest rivals, a few issues must be combatted, in particular their defensive woes, over the coming weeks to close the gap between themselves City and Chelsea at the top of the table.

City's season is already an enormous improvement on last term's shambles under Manuel Pellegrini, but there's a lot of room for improvement.

Alas, we're here for great goals, and here are City's FIVE best so far this season...

5 - Kelechi Iheanacho vs. Bournemouth

Until victory over Watford at the Etihad Stadium last week, Pep Guardiola's side had not recorded a home win since the 4-1 defeat of Bournemouth in September.

However, that day witnessed City run riot over Eddie Howe's Bournemouth and Kelechi Iheanacho scored one of the best counter-attacking goals seen this season.

A break away from a Bournemouth free-kick resulted in the team carving the Cherries open before Iheanacho slotted into an empty net.

4 - Kevin De Bruyne vs. Bournemouth

Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is essential for City's hopes of another title in May. During the same game against Bournemouth, his moment of brilliance opened the scoring between the two teams.

After Jack Wilshere had hacked David Silva down outside the area, De Bruyne took proceedings into his own hands and stunned the Bournemouth defence by firing a low firing free-kick underneath the Cherries' wall.

3 - Sergio Aguero vs. West Brom

Not only were there question marks surround Sergio Aguero's future, but many believed Pep Guardiola did not fancy the Argentine striker around the time of this goal.

To silence his critics and ensure the faith was restored in Guardiola, Aguero destroyed West Brom during the team's 0-4 victory over Tony Pulis' side.

Having already opened the scoring, he also managed to fire a thunderbolt into the top corner to double City's advantage during the first-half.

Kevin De Bruyne - Barcelona

It could be labelled as City's most famous EVER Champions League victory as Pep Guardiola's side overturned a 1-0 deficit to beat five-time winners, Barcelona, 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

Shortly into the second half, De Bruyne added yet another free-kick to his collection as he found the top corner against the Catalan giants in stunning fashion.

City went on to win the match 3-1 with De Bruyne's performance widely considered as one of the greatest ever at the Etihad Stadium.

Raheem Sterling - Arsenal

Onside? Offside? Who cares! Just admire the talent of two of the finest young players in European football.

City were behind at half-time to Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium before Leroy Sane equalised to give City the opportunity to hurt the Gunners.

Then up stepped Kevin De Bruyne, once again. His 40-yard long ball found Raheem Sterling on the right wing before the England winger cut inside and scored at Petr Cech's near post.

De Bruyne's pass could be regarded as the best assist of the season.
