Manchester City ace insists Barca tie is ‘not over’

Manchester City midfielder Sami Nasri is adamant that their Champions League last 16 tie with Barcelona is “not over”, despite their 2-0 home loss.

The Sky Blues suffered defeat at the Etihad Stadium in a controversial game that was dominated by Martin Demichelis’ contentious red card.

The Argentine defender chopped down compatriot Lionel Messi in the second-half, but despite the challenge appearing to have occurred outside of the area, a spot kick was given by referee Jonas Eriksson.

The Barca superstar converted before Dani Alves netted a last minute goal to give the Spaniards a two goal advantage heading into their home leg.

With the Catalans one of the finest club sides on the planet, few have given City a chance of securing the result needed to qualify for the quarter-finals, but Nasri hasn’t lost all hope just yet:

“It is a different game but why not? We went to Munich and we won. We could do the same,” he is quoted by the Daily Star.

“I think it is not over. It was a close game and then the referee made a mistake.

“It was not a pen, it was a free-kick. We still have a chance and we are going to play the game there without fear and try to score as soon as possible.”
