Manchester City ace wary of Capital One Cup final defeat

Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri is concerned that a loss to Sunderland in next weekend’s Capital One Cup final could derail their season.

The Sky Blues are currently in the hunt for a staggering four-trophy haul this season, with their impressive form having put them in contention for each competition they have played in.

They could kick off a possible quadruple with victory at Wembley, where they will face surprise finalists in the shape of Gus Poyet’s Sunderland.

Nasri lost the League Cup final in 2011 while at former club Arsenal, a defeat which deflated the Gunners at the time and took away their momentum for the remainder of the season as they went on to win only two more league games.

The French playmaker is confident of a better result this time around, but is wary of the possible impacts of a loss:

“I don’t have good memories in the cups, because I lost the final with Arsenal as well as last season,” he is quoted by The Mirror.

“We got to the final with Arsenal and lost. After that, we won only two games in the league, so a win would be really important for us and for the confidence.”
