Manchester City braced for raid from old boss

Aleksandar Kolarov, Manchester City defenderFormer Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is planning to swoop for Aleksandar Kolarov in January, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The Italian recently took control of Turkish giants Galatasaray and is already planning for additions this winter.

One man he is believed to have made a priority is Kolarov.

The Serbian was brought to the Etihad Stadium under Mancini, who is known to be a fan of his abilities.

The 27-year-old is thought to be considering his future at City as he enters the final 18 months of his current contract.

The emergence of Gael Clichy has seen Kolarov’s first-team opportunities limited, and he is said to be ready to leave.

Mancini is ready to spend £5m on the Eastern European, who cost the Citizens £19m in 2010.

Juventus are also keen, but the player’s relationship with his former coach could be key.

Mancini is thought to have around £30m to spend at Gala, with the club keen to compete with Europe’s top sides.

The Istanbul-based outfit are also believed to be competing with Arsenal for Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema.
