Manchester City should be full of confidence heading into the new season as they are defending Premier League champions.

Pep Guardiola's side eased to the title in the 2017-18 campaign, but they have been fairly quiet in the transfer window.

In fairness to the North-West outfit they have not had to alter their side too much, and they boosted their wide areas with the arrival of Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City.

Jorginho was heavily tipped to sign from Napoli to share the workload with Fernandinho.

However, in a big twist of events, the midfielder ended up joining Chelsea after Maurizio Sarri was appointed as the Blues' new manager.

Real Madrid's Mateo Kovacic swiftly became an alternative target, but on Monday, Sky Sports News reported that City are unwilling to pay the Spanish giants' £80m valuation.

The report added that there is a chance that the reigning English champions will not add another new face to their ranks before the window closes.

Given the strength of Guardiola's team already, it would not be hugely detrimental if no more players were signed, but some fans have concerns.
