Manchester City fans slam Stuart Pearce’s title prediction

Manchester City fans have bashed former manager and player Stuart Pearce after he put Liverpool as the favourites for the Premier League title.

The Reds are currently sat at the top of the table, collecting 25 points from nine games and proving to be just as formidable as they were last season. Liverpool’s lead in the league may have been cut from eight to six after their draw at Old Trafford, but Jurgen Klopp’s men remain the only unbeaten side in the Premier League still.

Pearce told talkSPORT: “I think Liverpool will win the Premier League comfortably this year.

“I’m not sure they’ll go unbeaten, but I can’t see them losing more than two games. They’re still clear favourites.

“Those could be against Manchester City, potentially, but if you go into the game against your nearest rivals with a six point buffer, it will put real pressure on Man City to come out and play.

“That might just suit Liverpool.”

As a result of his fair yet controversial comments, City supporters have jumped on his case to remind him that it is still early doors in the Premier League.

Fans have also savagely alluded to the time Pearce strangely put goalkeeper David James up front to try and salvage three points against Middlesbrough, whilst he actually had striker John Macken sat on the bench.

Pep Guardiola’s side did successfully claw themselves back from behind Liverpool to win the title by a mere point. Liverpool were top of the table from matchday 16, until their draw in a Merseyside derby on matchday 29, which pushed City above them as they beat Bournemouth.

Here’s what the fans have had to say to their ex-manager’s comments…
