Given Manchester City’s status as Premier League champions, one would think that they would be able to complete their transfer business rather swiftly.
However, that has not been the case, as two of their targets are taking a while to get over the line.
It has been widely reported that Pep Guardiola is interested in recruiting Jorginho from Napoli and Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez.
Both have become drawn-out sagas, particularly the pursuit of Mahrez, which dates back to January when the North-West outfit were denied a deal by Leicester.
The latest development comes from The Mirror, who reported on Tuesday that Leicester have shelved interest in City’s Patrick Roberts due to the recent acquisition of James Maddison from Norwich City.
The publication claims that Roberts, who has spent the last two seasons on loan at Celtic, was initially planning to be part of a deal involving Mahrez, but now Leicester want a straight cash transfer.
The news has frustrated some City fans, who have called for the club to call an end to the deal.

If City have to pay more than £60m for Mahrez (and I don’t think Mahrez is worth more than £50-55m to begin with), they really need to pull the plug and move on. Bailey, Malcom, Shaqiri, Fekir, Martins could probably fit too and all cheaper than Mahrez, other than maybe Bailey.

Oh FFS!!! Let’s just walk away from this deal, pick up Leon Bailey and bring in Hazard after WC.

Hold onto that cash. Save it for hazard

Walk away. He is not a 70 million pound player! I would rather go for someone else.
