Manchester City are boosted by the return of David Silva, James Milner and Sergio Aguero from hamstring injuries for West Ham’s visit.
Spanish playmaker Silva has missed the past three games while striker Aguero was an unused substitute in last weekend’s 3-1 defeat at Tottenham and winger Milner was forced off at half-time in that game.
However all three have made good progress in training this past week and boss Roberto Mancini can call on them to face Sam Allardyce’s Hammers at the Etihad Stadium.
Midfielder Jack Rodwell could also feature in the game having been out for almost two months with his latest hamstring problem, while defenders Maicon and Micah Richards are not yet ready for a return to first-team action because of respective knee injuries.
Meanwhile skipper Vincent Kompany wants to see a positive response from the players in their first game since rivals Manchester United were confirmed as Premier League champions given that they need to keep their performance levels high ahead of next month’s FA Cup final against Wigan.
He said: “Having tasted success, we obviously wanted to win the title again this year, but there are five or six clubs who started the season wanting to win the title as well and it’s not always possible.
“But our season also depends on our result in the cup final and we shouldn’t forget that.
“It’s very important to us and if we get a good result, it can get us going again in a positive way for next season.”
