Blown away literally and figuratively at the Britannia Stadium so far today, Manuel Pellegrini is coming under severe pressure.
2-0 down at Stoke, totally outplayed in the first half and his defence and defensive midfielders look totally outdone every time Stoke come forward.
Pellegrini has now made all three substitutions as he tries to add pace to his team. Kelechi Iheanacho is tasked with leading the line and Jesus Navas provides his pace too, whilst Fabian Delph is supposed to be a calming influence on the overrun City midfield.
But it’s not enough for the moment. The wind is causing severe havoc as the ball won’t stay in place for corners and goal kicks, and Stoke’s 2-0 lead looks like a pretty convincing one as City just can’t find a way forward.
The locals are getting restless, Pellegrini’s side just don’t see to have the consistency they should have with all the money they’ve spent and the players they have at their disposal. City fan’s aren’t known for turning nastily on their manager, but the manner in which City lost to Spurs, Liverpool and now (possibly) Stoke is alarming.
Is Pellegrini on borrowed time?
