Manchester City star pens new deal

Gael ClichyGael Clichy has committed his future to Manchester City after penning a four-year deal at the Etihad Stadium.

The Frenchman has been a regular starter for City since signing from Arsenal back in 2011 and the new deal will keep him at the club until at least the summer 0f 2017.

City surrendered their Premier League crown to arch rival Manchester United this season but Clichy says they are already looking forward to the next campaign, when they hope to win it back.

“I’m really happy to have agreed a new deal with city and I’m already looking forward to next season,” he told the club’s official website.

“Things didn’t go the way we wanted them to this year but we’ll come back stronger next season and learn from this experience.”

Brian Kidd is currently in charge following the sacking of Roberto Mancini and he believes the defender has a big future at the club whoever takes over as boss.

“We are building a side that will challenge for honours for years to come and to do that, you need top quality players – Gael comfortably fits into the
bracket,” said Kidd.

“Gael is a top professional off the pitch as well as on it and his attitude and conduct is faultless. He is a manager’s dream.”
