The Citizens were linked with a late summer move for the Spanish international captain, whose future with the La Liga giants is far from clear.
The 32-year-old has spent much of the opening weeks of the season on the bench at the Bernabeu, with new manager Carlo Ancelotti electing to field Diego Lopez as his first choice goalkeeper.
This, combined with Joe Hart’s shaky form, has led to speculation that Manuel Pellegrini has lost patience with his keeper and is ready to make a move for a replacement.
Although Navas – a recent arrival at the Etihad Stadium – confessed that the club already have good options, he believes that Casillas would be a great signing.
“We all know how great a goalkeeper he is and his importance within the team,” Navas told AS.
“At City we have great goalkeepers, but Iker would be a good fit.”
Casillas was also linked with Arsenal, who could return with a January offer, with Arsene Wenger still unconvinced by Wojciech Szczesny.
Hart is set to remain City’s first choice, but could find his future the subject of more speculation in the coming months.
Should Manchester City move for Iker Casillas? Or is Joe Hart the right man for the job?
