Manchester City striker Alvaro Negrodo has urged Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi to join him at the Etihad Stadium.
The Argentinian ace is widely regarded as one of the finest players in the history of the game and has been the focal point of the Catalan side’s recent dominance of European football.
But, with the club’s shift in philosophy under new boss Tata Martino and the arrival of Neymar, Messi has been a little below par so far this season.
The continent’s top club sides are all likely to make a move if there are any signs of unrest from the Ballon d’Or holder, and City are one of an elite crowd that could actually fund a deal.
Negredo – who recently move from Spain to join the Sky Blues – feels that Messi could settle in Manchester, and would welcome playing alongside the tricky forward:
“I suppose so.” He is quoted as saying when asked if he could see Messi moving to the Premier League by the Daily Star.
“He is a player who can play really well in any league at all.
“Maybe in two years’ time or five years’ time he will get bored with La Liga, want a change and come here.
“People do paint it a bit black but you know it is not bad at all,”
“I have got to know the coaches. The city is not too big, not too small. I like it. I’m happy here.”
Chelsea have recently been linked with Messit, with rumours suggesting that a £200m bid was being prepared.
