Manchester City want Madrid star

Sami Khedira (Real Madrid)

Manchester City want to sign Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira, reports the Mirror.

The German has been linked in a £30million move to the high spending Premier League side.

Khedira has just 20 months left on his contract at the Bernabeu, and Madrid are keen to resolve his future soon, to avoid a similar situation to one they face with Xabi Alonso. The Spaniard’s contract expires this summer, meaning the former Liverpool star could leave the Spanish capital on a free transfer.

Chelsea have been linked with the German in the past, with reports suggesting that Mourinho wanted to bring the midfielder with him to Stamford Bridge. But it is Manuel Pellegrini who is ready to make the first move for Khedira.

It is believed that Madrid are keen to keep hold of Khedira, with club president Florentino Perez ready to offer him a contract worth £3million-a-year.

But City boss Pellegrini will be hoping that the German will reject any offers from Los Blancos, and instead follow Alvaro Negredo, Jesus Navas and Martín Demichelis in leaving La Liga for the Etihad.

City didn’t show much evidence of a need to strengthen their squad on Saturday though, tearing apart Norwich City in a 7-0 victory, with 6 different goalscorers joining Bradly Johnson’s own goal.

Would you like to see Khedira at the Etihad? Is he what you need?
