Manchester City weigh up move for Spaniard

iker-casillasManchester City are weighing up a move for Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas, according to reports from The Express.

The Spanish captain was benched for the second successive game under Carlo Ancelotti on Monday, which increased speculation that he may consider a move away from his boyhood club.

Arsenal are believed to be interested, but now City have emerged as candidates with Manuel Pellegrini rumoured to be unconvinced by Joe Hart’s performances.

The England number one’s latest in a series of mishaps occurred over the weekend and contributed to Cardiff’s shock 3-2 win against the Sky Blues.

Although he is considered to be a big player at the Etihad Stadium, Pellegrini is yet to be convinced by his abilities and is already considering alternatives.

Casillas has emerged as his top potential candidate to replace Hart, and the Chilean could test Real’s willingness to hold onto the 32-year-old with a late bid.

However, the stopper is unlikely to move unless he is guaranteed regular action ahead of the 2014 World Cup, which may be a doubt at City.

Arsenal are still in the race, and would be able to offer Casillas a guaranteed starting berth with Arsene Wenger said be unconvinced by Polis ‘keeper Wojciech Szczesny.

Manchester City fans, would Iker Casillas be an upgrade on Joe Hart?
