That’s why it’s so incredibly exciting when he declares a 19-year-old “the most talented player” he has ever seen. Equally, the fact that he’s considered in such high regard is the reason some might consider his absence from first-team action a little perplexing.

Foden has featured in just 11 minutes of football so far this term – ten in the Premier League and one against Liverpool in the Community Shield.
