Ex-Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has expressed his gratitude to the the club’s fans in a full-page advert in the local paper.
Mancini, who hasn’t commented publicly since his sacking by City on Monday, enjoyed a great rapport with the supporters during his time in charge at the Etihad Stadium, even if the same couldn’t always be said of relations with the club’s players or hierarchy.
However, those who follow the blue half of Manchester will forever remain indebted to the Italian, after he led them last season to their first title since 1968 as well as success in the FA Cup during his three-and-a-half-year stint.
Even this year’s failure to really push rivals Manchester United for the Premier League crown and last weekend’s cup final loss to Wigan, didn’t seem to have dented their confidence in him.
The advert, which appeared alongside a huge picture of Mancini alongside the FA Cup, Community Shield and Premier League trophy, simply said: “Manchester City Supporters 3 unforgettable years, you will always be in my heart, ciao, Roberto Mancini.”
