Mancini rues shot-shy Manchester City

Roberto Mancini, Manchester CityRoberto Mancini was left to rue a host of missed chances as Manchester City had to settle for a goalless draw at Swansea.

City consolidated their place in second with the point but Mancini felt they should have had all three with Samir Nasri and David Silva missing opportunities but the biggest culprit was second-half substitute Edin Dzeko.

Swansea also had chances to win the game and although a draw was probably a fair result, Mancini felt his side should have won. City now have to prepare for the FA Cup Final against Wigan this weekend and Mancini would have liked to go into the showpiece on the back of a victory.

“I think we played well and we deserved to win,” Mancini revealed after the game. “But we missed five incredible chances, Nasri, Silva and Dzeko all had good opportunities to score.

“I also think we should have had a penalty for a foul on Dzeko, I don’t know why the referee didn’t give it. We were motivated to win this game because we want to secure the second position.

“We have the final on Saturday and if we won today it would have been better for us.”
