Benjamin Mendy has won two Premier League medals in just two years at Manchester City, and yet he is definitely one of the unluckiest players in Pep Guardiola's well-oiled machine.

Throughout the 2018/19 season, Mendy suffered from three different injuries, including a meniscal problem, foot injury and knee surgery. When all of that is put together, he missed a total of 33 games in the previous campaign, managing only ten appearances in the Premier League and two in the Champions League.

Since then, he has recovered but not really been used by Guardiola bar one game in April against Crystal Palace. Now, Mendy has taken to Instagram to show that he is still on a recovery path and will be looking to start the next season strong.

His big return should happen with the 2019/20 season kicking off in August and the 24-year-old Frenchman will, if everything goes well and as planned, return to the pitch and maybe into the starting 11.

When he is fit and firing, there's no denying Mendy is an excellent left-back. In his ten Premier League appearances, he still managed five assists, which is a great return, especially for a defender.
