Manchester City are set to press ahead with a summer move for Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan, despite the midfielder having been ruled out for some time with a serious knee injury, according to reports from the Daily Telegraph.
The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to the Premier League after rejecting a contract extension with his current club.
Despite Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel being keen to keep the playmaker, City are set to complete his signing in a deal worth up to £21.6million – £1.5million of this could be paid in add-ons.
It is believed that Gundogan now only has to agree personal terms with the English giants before they can confirm his acquisition.
His transfer was in doubt after he picked up a knee injury, but he is set to make a return in August following successful surgery.
He featured 40 times in all competitions for his side last term, scoring a total of three goals while providing another seven assists.
