New Man City boss working on secret deal to sign key Bayern Munich star

Pep Guardiola has been working on a secret deal to lure David Alaba to Manchester City with him this summer, but his efforts may end in disappointment, according to reports from Bild.

The Spaniard will leave Bayern Munich for the Etihad Stadium at the end of the season, with a deal having already been formalised between the parties involved.

And Guardiola is reportedly looking back towards the Allianz Arena as he plots his City transfer business, with Alaba a top target.

The Austria international has emerged as one of Bayern’s key players under the stewardship of the ex-Barcelona man, and is now considered to be one of the best left-backs on the planet, while he can also play in central midfield or as an advanced winger.

Bild suggest that secret plans have been pursued by Guardiola, but that the chase is likely to be fruitless, with the 23-year-old on the verge of signing a new contract with the Bavarian club, which will see his salary boosted significantly.
