Manchester City fans have taken to Twitter in livid fashion, after Mohamed Salah defended his recent goal drought by pointing to Sergio Aguero's tally as a reference point.

The Egyptian international hasn't found the back of the net in his last eight games across all competitions, but has still registered 17 Premier League goals for the season - just two behind leading scorer Aguero's 19 strikes.

Salah is some way off his 32-goal haul from the previous campaign - a Premier League record - although it would be unfair to say that he is having a bad season, such was his freakish brilliance last term.

The 26-year-old's comments after the dramatic 2-1 win over Tottenham somewhat suggest that the drought may be getting to him.

Defending his recent barren spell, Salah said: "There are three or four players that no one is talking about or just saying they are having a good season while I am the only one who is having a bad season.

"Aguero has two goals over me and they say it is one of the best seasons so far."

It is hardly a swipe at the Argentine striker from Salah, but many City fans on Twitter still haven't taken kindly to the former Basel forward's comments on their prolific No.10...
