Pass master offered long-term Man City contract ahead of £23m Etihad transfer

According to reports from The Daily Mail, Manchester City expect to finalise a £23million deal for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan during the summer transfer window.

The German international has been in good form this season, averaging the seventh-most accurate passes per match, 80.9, of any player involved in Europe’s five leading top flights.

Barcelona, Juventus, Arsenal and Liverpool have all expressed an interest in the 25-year-old according to The Daily Mail, but he looks set to snub their advances in favour of a move to Manchester City.

Citizens director Txiki Bergiristain was spotted talking to Gundogan’s uncle and agent Ilhan outside of the Conservatorium Hotel in Amsterdam last month and it appears his transfer to the Etihad is now a formality.

City have reportedly offered the 16-cap international a five-year contract and expect to make a £23million deal official during the summer transfer window.

Gundogan’s current contract at Westfalenstadion expires at the end of next season.
