A huge majority of the Manchester City fans that answered our recent poll think that Raheem Sterling is set to score more in this campaign than the 23 he netted in all competitions last season.

Sterling was left on the bench by Pep Guardiola for the 5-0 home win over Burnley on Saturday as the Catalan boss continued his rotation of his wide-men. The wingers that started, Leroy Sane and Riyad Mahrez, both netted in the last 10 minutes at the Etihad but there is no doubt that Guardiola's habit of swapping his big-money signings in and out will continue.

Despite this, Sterling has scored four times already so far in 10 appearances throughout all competitions, and he will be hoping to eclipse his total from last season to dispel the rumours that he is not clinical enough.

The 23-year-old, who is valued at £81m by Transfermarkt, is now in his fourth season at Manchester City after his 2015 move from Liverpool and his attacking game has clearly improved under Guardiola, who implores his wingers to get in at the back-post when the ball is being worked across the box. With Sterling's continued development, 89 per cent of the Manchester City fans that responded to our poll thought he would improve his goal tally again this season.
