Roberto Mancini fully behind his striker

Roberto ManciniManchester City striker Carlos Tevez will not be punished by the club after getting in trouble with the police last week.

The 29-year-old was caught driving while banned by police near his home in Greater Manchester and has been handed 250 hours of community service as punishment.

The Argentina international has been involved in a number of high-profile bust-ups and incidents, most famously when he went AWOL after falling out with the Italian manager.

Mancini believes that his antics should not reflect badly on the club and feels that it should have no influence on his standing with the Premier League champions.

Tevez said: “Carlos made a mistake and he has paid for this. Usually, he has good behaviour.

“No, this is their private life,” Mancini replied when asked about a damaged reputation for the club.

“We can do nothing about this. This can happen sometimes.”
