Roberto Mancini hopes to secure Manchester City’s top transfer targets as quickly as possible when the transfer window reopens.
The Italian feels City were hindered by failing to act quickly in the summer last year and has urged the club not to make the same mistakes again if they are to challenge for the Premier League title next season.
“You should move very quickly. We didn’t do this last year,” Mancini told reporters.
“We moved so slowly. We lost the players that were our targets to improve our team.
“I think that when you build your team you need to start like in this case, in the end of this championship. We have time but not a lot of time. We should have our targets in mind.”
A new striker is Mancini’s priority, having allowed Mario Balotelli to join AC Milan in January, and Napoli’s Edinson Cavani is thought to be City’s top target.
City will face competition for the in-demand forward and the Etihad Stadium side have also been linked with Atletico Madrid’s Radamel Falcao, Bayern Munich star Mario Gomez and Stevan Jovetic of Fiorentina in the build up to what should be a busy summer for Mancini.
