If a week is a long time in politics then it must be an eternity in football.
Less than seven days into the new Premier League season almost every pre-season prediction appears to lie torn and broken on the floor. Arsenal real challengers, Man City out of contention, Chelsea shoe-ins once again? Pfft … yeah right.
But then perhaps we’re all guilty of getting a tad over-excited. Cech hasn’t become a bad keeper over night, City were always going to be close – especially if they manage to sign Kevin de Bruyne – and Chelsea still have the strongest first XI in the league.
Logic aside, Marcus Speller has an incredible stat to suggest that City may be on to a winner already after just one game. Watch as he muses on the Eva Carneiro saga, the Pedro transfer saga and more never-ending narratives than you can shake a stick at.
