Title ‘in our hands’, says Man City ace

Manchester City’s Pablo Zabaleta believes that his side will have no excuse if they fail to claim the Premier League title this season.

The Sky Blues are currently third in the standings after their 5-0 annihilation of relegation battlers Fulham on Saturday and trail leaders Chelsea by six points.

However thanks to their cup exploits earlier in the season, the Citizens have three games in hand on their London rivals, and could overturn the advantage between now and the end of the campaign.

One of the extra matches will occur tonight as City travel to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United, and Zabaleta has called on his team to make use of their situation:

“We need to try to win every game but everything is in our hands. We don’t have an excuse now.” He is quoted by the London Evening Standard.

“We only have Premier League games and we have time to recover well between them. Hopefully, it won’t be the same as last time because it is going to be difficult.

“We just need to keep focused on what we are doing. It is going to be very tough but we have a great team and we believe we can win the title.

“Everything depends on us. We just need to keep working hard and winning games. Hopefully, we can celebrate something at the end of this season.”

City face a number of potentially tricky ties during their run in, including trips to Arsenal and Liverpool.
