Transfer bid made in Stoke City’s race to sign Man City striker (not Bony)

According to reports from Diari de Girona, Stoke City are chasing a summer transfer deal for Manchester City striker Ruben Sobrino.

The 24-year-old moved to the Etihad stadium last summer after bagging five goals in 46 appearances for Spanish second tier outfit Ponferradina.

That followed six years at Real Madrid, in which the Spaniard featured for their C and B strings – whilst representing his country at U17, U18 and U19 level.

Sobrino spent last season out on loan at Girona FC, helping them finish fourth in the Segunda division with two goals in twelve appearances.

And according to reports from regional newspaper Diari de Girona, Stoke City are keen to sign the 6 foot 1 striker during the summer transfer window.

The Potters were short of firepower last season, scoring the sixth-fewest goals of any Premier League side despite finishing the campaign in ninth place.

Genoa, Real Betis and Deportivo are also said to be interested in signing Sobrino, with one bid from an unnamed club already on the table.
