Just when things couldn’t get much worse for Newcastle… well, they did.
The Magpies were already 3-0 down upon their visit to the Etihad this afternoon, but reigning Premier League champions Manchester City have decided to pour on the misery with two goals in just two minutes!
Indeed, a Sergio Aguero penalty, a Samir Nasri strike and an Edin Dzeko goal gave the Citizens a three-goal lead after half an hour. And just as Newcastle were beginning to get themselves back into the game, David Silva found the back of the net on the 51st minute mark:
And the Spain international produced the goods yet again just two minutes later to secure a brace for the afternoon:
And with the job done, Manuel Pellergini saw fit to take off the playmaking midfielder just five minutes later, with Jesus Navas replacing him from the bench. No chance of a hat-trick then, you moody Chilean!
Nevertheless, City’s fans on Twitter were very impressed with Silva’s contribution:
I don't think there's a warmer feeling than seeing David Silva score.

This is silly. Silva scores again! Aguero lays it off, Silva with a quality finish. #MCFC
