Why this Borussia Dortmund man would thrive at Man City under Guardiola

Manchester City have enjoyed an extremely fruitful start to their Premier League campaign and barring their 2-0 defeat at White Hart Lane, it’s been as good a start to the new season as Pep Guardiola could have probably imagined.

What seems so strong at City is the depth that Guardiola has at his disposal. Being able to leave the likes of Jesus Navas, Kelechi Iheanacho and Yaya Toure out of the team must be a real luxury and you wouldn’t bet against the Citizens going all the way to the league title come the end of the season.

But perhaps one area they are missing that little bit of star quality going forward is up front. Of course, in Sergio Aguero they have one of – or quite possibly the – best striker on the planet. He’s as good as they get, but behind him? They might be lacking just a little bit. Kelechi Iheanacho has done fantastically when given the chance but he’s still young and quite raw.

If their Argentinian powerhouse was to sustain an injury that keeps him out for the whole season, you might worry where City’s goals could come from. But there is one man that could really solve this problem should it arise and talks have reportedly already started.

The man in question? Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gabonese international is without a doubt one of the best strikers in world football and he will always brings bags of pace and ability to the field time after time.

But with Dortmund apparently keen on selling him to City in the near future, just why would he thrive under Guardiola in England?

Well at City, they have some of the best players in the world in their ranks and Aubamayeng would be playing alongside players who are arguably even better than those at Dortmund. Having the likes of David Silva, Ilkay Gundogan and Sergio Aguero playing around you would make you a better player and there would be no lack of creativity either.

For Aubamayeng, surely this would be a massive pulling factor should he agree to a move. Another is quite simply Pep Guardiola himself. He has an uncanny record of really crafting some of the best players we’ve seen in modern football and the Dortmund man really wouldn’t be any exception.

He’s electric quick and has a fantastic goal-scoring record to boot. It could be a match made in heaven.

But as we said earlier, what Aubamayeng would really do is bring some serious depth to this Manchester City side. Perhaps he could play alongside Aguero, perhaps not.

But what is known by everyone is that the Saint Etienne man has some serious quality and could be that last player needed to make Manchester City Champions League contenders in the near future.
