Manchester City fans have taken to Twitter in dissatisfied mood, after it was revealed that the club wouldn't be targeting a new left-back and will be giving their backing to Benjamin Mendy.

The Frenchman cost the Citizens £52m when they signed him from Monaco back in 2017, although he has endured an injury-hit time on Manchester since arriving.

Mendy has suffered two serious knee injuries across the last two campaigns, which have resulted in him making just 14 Premier League starts.

He has also caused Pep Guardiola a lot of extra stress with his off-field antics, which have seen him turn up late to physio sessions and be caught clubbing as late as 3:30am in the morning.

As a result of the club's inability to rely on Mendy consistently, a number of fans on Twitter have called out the reigning champions' decision to back the 24-year-old, and certainly don't seem on board with the idea...
