Manchester United & Arsenal in battle for Everton star

Manchester United and Arsenal are ready to go head-to-head in the battle for Everton’s Seamus Coleman, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The Republic of Ireland international has been excellent since Roberto Martinez’s arrival at Goodison Park, being a key protagonist in the Merseysiders’ push for Champions League qualification.

The Spaniard has adopted an approach reliant upon the attacking intent of his wide defenders, and Coleman has thrived in the role.

His consistent form has alerted some of the Premier League’s ‘big boys’, with United and Arsenal particularly keen.

The Gunners are known to be desperate for a new right-back, with Bacary Sagna set to leave on a free transfer this summer.

Coleman is seen as an ideal fit in Arsene Wenger’s system, and the club are confident that they can lure him to the capital if Everton miss out on European football.

United are similarly interested, with David Moyes having a detailed knowledge of the player he coached while at the club.

Everton are desperate to keep their man, but a significant offer for the man they paid just £60,000 to Sligo Rovers for may be tempting.
