The Daily Express have reported that Manchester United are the bookies favourites to sign Kieran Trippier after this summer's World Cup and United fans on Twitter have been buzzing with the news.

The 27-year-old has enjoyed an impressive season at Spurs after Kyle Walker left for Man City. He created nine assists in all competitions while playing at right-back in Mauricio Pochettino's back four.

He has also continued this form into the World Cup for England. Playing at right wing-back, Gareth Southgate has given him licence to get forward and has trusted him with delivering England's all-important set-pieces. It was his corner that John Stones headed in to open the scoring against Panama in the group.

Valued at £17m by Transfermarkt, Trippier's performances this summer may just have increased any potential price tag.

United have made a top right-back out of Antonio Valencia in recent years but if they were to sign Trippier then it would create serious competition for the starting spot in Jose Mourinho's side, with fellow new signing Diogo Dalot able to play in both full-back positions.
