Manchester United & Liverpool set for transfer frustration

KokeAtletico Madrid have no intention of selling star midfielder Koke, despite growing interest in the Spaniard, according to reports from talkSPORT.

Manchester United, Liverpool and Barcelona have all been watching the 21-year-old recently and have been impressed by his excellent start to the season.

His creative displays have drawn comparisons with Barca icon Xavi, with the Catalan club believed to be looking at him as eventual replacement for their playmaker.

Liverpool and United are also keen and are hopeful that, if Atletico sell, they may be more tempted to let Koke move abroad.

The Spaniards have recently tied the youngster down to a new contract that runs until 2018, and are confident that they can keep him at the Vicente Calderon.

But that has not dampened speculation of a move.

However, Atletico are likely to resist any winter offers in a bid to keep Koke.

United are thought to be keen to add a creative midfield man to their ranks, after missing out on a number of targets over the summer.

David Moyes is said to have funds at his disposal for January deal, and may revive his interest in Athletic Bilbao star Ander Herrera.

Meanwhile Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is looking to lure at least one big name player to Anfield.
