Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi has revealed that he’s “ready to reject Manchester United” should the Old Trafford side come calling for him this summer.
The Argentine striker has been aligned with the Red Devils of late, with reports having already claimed that Louis van Gaal’s side made an unsuccessful move for his signature during the last transfer window.
With 10 goals in 21 Serie A games to his name this term, Icardi is seen as a key man at the San Siro, and was even promoted to club captain by manager Roberto Mancini ahead of the current campaign.
Although Inter are by no means guaranteed to reach the Champions League for next season – which has led to suggestions they could sell their South American marksman – Icardi has revealed that he’s eager to stay put:
“I want to stay at Inter at all costs,” he told Corriere dello Sport (via The Mirror). “I am also ready to reject Manchester United. With Mancini there’s no problem, we will do well.”
Icardi is known for his industrious and energetic approach, which is not dissimilar to that of ex-Liverpool man Luis Suarez.
