Whether those youngsters are already described by the media as wonderkids, or if they need a helping hand to reach their potential, bringing a player from the youth team and moulding him into a first-team star has to be one of the most satisfying achievements in FM.

Under Sir Alex Ferguson, the Red Devils of course produced some of their greatest players from their own youth setup. That tradition has been lost slightly in recent years, but it'll be a good test of your Football Manager ability in trying to return the club to their glory days

So, who are the young players you should be carefully tracking in the United squad? Click through our gallery to find out.

Gomes is one of the brightest young stars at Old Trafford and made his first-team debut as a late substitute for Wayne Rooney in a 2017 win over Crystal Palace. His best position is as a central attacking-midfielder, but he is just as comfortable on the left-hand side. The youngster's talent has been proven by the fact he has captained England at U16, U17 and U18 levels.

Rashford needs no extra training to get him to Wonderkid status, he is well and truly in that category already as a 20-year-old of FM19. The England striker has already been to two major tournaments with his country and having broken through so early he could go on to become a United legend. We'd like to think we could manage him better than Jose Mourinho though.
