Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte is “happy” to sign for Manchester United if they match his £31m buyout clause, according to respected journalist Guillem Balague.
The 20-year-old centre-back is currently one of La Liga’s most highly-rated young players, and has been attracting interest from the Red Devils of late.
Bilbao are, however, keen to keep their star, yet a £31m release clause-triggering fee would remove their stance from the equation.
And Balague – known for his connections in the Spanish game – has revealed that Laporte would jump at the chance to sign for United if they offer Athletic the cash:
“On Laporte. Buyout clause £31m. Athletic Bilbao, who expect an offer from MUFC, wont sell for less. Laporte happy 2 go if Utd pays full fee.”

Laporte is just one of a number of defenders on United’s radar, with Mats Hummels thought to be a summer target.
The Dortmund ace helped Germany to World Cup glory last year and is a key player at BVB – who are currently in the Bundesliga’s relegation zone after a shock poor start to the season.
