£32.5m midfield maestro opens Man United door

Belgium international Axel Witsel has hinted that he is keen on a move to the Premier League, opening the door for a Manchester United move, according to reports from The Metro.

The Zenit Saint-Petersburg man has been quite vocal on the subject of his future of late, suggestion in January that he would relish the chance to play at Old Trafford.

Witsel is a regular in his national side and at the age of 26 has long been touted as one of Europe’s top central midfielders.

He cost Zenit £32.5m in 2012 after an impressive spell at Benfica, and has since built on his reputation in Russia with the Gazprom-backed giants.

And he’s now once again stoked the speculation fires by revealing that he’s keen on a switch to the Premier League:

“The voices of the market? I know nothing,” he said. “Sure, I love the Premier League and United ever since I was little. Sooner or later I want to play in one of the best clubs in Europe. I’m still young, I’ll see what the future holds.”

United were linked with Witsel some time ago, and could revive their chase given his recent comments.
