A necessary transfer for Fergie & United braced for Madrid bid – Best of MUFC

In a week where United announced a new shirt sponsorship deal with motor giant Chevrolet there has been a distinctive stall in Sir Alex Ferguson’s transfer dealings. As August fluttered into life the Red Devil’s chief is facing a major decision as he endeavors to boost his numbers ahead of the new Premier League season. The chase for Brazil star Lucas Moura has hit a roadblock with Ferguson not convinced the midfielder is worth his £40 million asking price whilst he’s not prepared to meet Everton’s £12m valuation for Leighton Baines. Left back is a position the club are currently light in and bringing in a quality replacement for Patrice Evra, following his erratic form last term, is a necessity. But, Ferguson can certainly find solace in the fact rivals City have yet to make a signing as they gear up for a title challenge like no other.

This week on FFC just what does Ferguson have to spend at United this summer and could the Spanish champions be about to raid Old Trafford for Nani?

‘I think this season we’ll see a better Chicharito. For the last four or five years he’s played all through the summer. This year, with the co-operation of Mexico, he’s had a proper rest.  We wanted to give him as much rest as possible. He had a couple of weeks off and then joined the Mexico side for a couple of qualifying games before getting another few weeks’ rest. Sir Alex Ferguson warns his rivals that Javier Hernandez will be better than ever next season.
