According to CalcioMercato, Everton face competition from AC Milan for Manchester United outcast Memphis Depay.

What’s the word?

Depay has been strongly linked with a move away from Man United this month, with various clubs showing interest in the winger.

Everton are among those keen on signing the former PSV Eindhoven star and are said to be plotting a swoop for him in the January transfer window.

And Italian outlet CalcioMercato claim that AC Milan are now in discussions with Depay over a potential move to the Italian club.

How likely is the deal to be completed?

It is, however, understood that Milan’s interest in the forward may amount to nothing this month given that they want to sign him on loan and Man United are only interested in permanent offers.

For a deal to be completed this month, Milan may have to change their approach as the Red Devils will not send the player away on a temporary basis.

However, the Serie A giants do not have the transfer budget as things stand to push for a permanent deal.

Depay, who joined Man United from PSV in July 2015, has made a total of 33 appearances and scored just two goals.
