Ajax boss Frank de Boer has admitted that the Dutch champions would find a loan partnership with Manchester United ‘very interesting’.
There are moves afoot to start a formal relationship between the clubs that would mirror one that Ajax already holds with Barcelona, whereby the Amsterdam club can obtain talented fringe players that could go straight into their first team.
Speaking to Voetbal International, De Boer said: “If a Manchester United talent would prefer to gain experience with Ajax than in the Championship, then it can be a very interesting option.”
United first-team coach Rene Meulensteen admitted to Algemeen Dagblad last week that United would prefer to send younger players like Michael Keane and Angelo Henriquez to a club like Ajax, where former Reds keeper Edwin van der Sar works as sporting director, than to a Championship club.
“For our younger players it would be a good idea, rather play at Ajax than in the Championship, I’ll keep Edwin informed,” he said.
