Andreas Pereira’s Manchester United career has been a true rollercoaster ride.
Even though he was a highly sought after player back in January of 2018 when he finally joined the Red Devils, the now 23-year-old ace picked the Manchester club because of an intervention by none other than Sir Alex Ferguson.
One of the greatest managers on the planet had a hand in his signing, as Pereira revealed himself, stating that he had a chat with Ferguson back in the day that had a clear impact on him, as quoted by Guardian:
“I had some doubts but at the end Manchester United is my dream team to play for. Manchester United is obviously a great club. I have been a few times to Manchester United to have a look. I got a tour and spoke to Sir Alex Ferguson. Being a 15-year-old, to talk with such a man was great.”
Of course, with such talent and seemingly the personal endorsement from Ferguson, it’s safe to say that a lot was expected from the youngster in his formative years and looking at his career in England so far, especially with some recent developments in his game time, he has not really hit the heights he was supposed to.
And yes, he is still young, but with 56 games for Man United already under his belt and just three goals and two assists to show for, time is slowly running out for him if he is to truly make it at the club.

Despite 1311 minutes in the current campaign up until matchday 18 and a consistent run of games at the very beginning of the season, recent developments could be seen as an ominous sign for the youngster.
Pereira remained on the bench both for the games vs Watford and Everton as Man United tallied a defeat and a draw respectively, and only got some minutes in the final stretches of the two clashes prior to that.
And yes, he did get the full 90 minutes against Colchester in the Cup but that is still just the Cup and a youngster of his potential should be aiming for more.
These recent omissions from the team sheet might just be a bad period for the 23-year-old but you never want to put yourself in those kinds of situations when you’re at such a big club.
