Barcelona legend Xavi has revealed his admiration for Manchester United and Liverpool, according to the Daily Star.
The Blaugrana bastion left the Catalan giants earlier this year after a hugely successful career in Spain, and now plies his trade for Qatari outfit Al-Saad.
The World Cup winner helped the club win eight La Liga titles over his time there, as well as four Champions League triumphs.
Now, he has revealed his admiration for English side Manchester United and Liverpool due to the historical stature of the North West giants.
When pressed to choose a Premier League side to sign for, he replied ‘a team with history. Either Manchester United or Liverpool.’
‘I know that other teams like Man City have emerged more recently, but, Manchester United are my favourite historically speaking.’
The Red Devils are now under the stewardship of Louis van Gaal of course, who gave the now 35-year old La Masia graduate his debut during his time in charge and the Camp Nou.
It was under the Dutchman that the miniature maestro established himself as a key member of the first-team, and prepped him for success under the likes of Frank Rijkaard and Pep Guardiola.
