According to reports from The Daily Mail yesterday evening, Bayern Munich have emerged as potential candidates to rival Chelsea and Manchester United for the signature of Real Madrid star Gareth Bale.
Despite boasting 39 goals in 88 appearances for Los Blancos and helping them claim last season’s Champions League title, the Welshman has bore the brunt of fans’ criticism at the Bernabeu for the club’s lukewarm performances this term, leading to rumours the former Tottenham star could return to the Premier League this summer.
It’s believed Manchester United are prepared to pay £100million for the 25 year-old whilst Chelsea are considering an equally monolithic bid.
But The Mail claim Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich could also enter the race for the goalscoring winger. They’re not famed for spending enormous sums on foreign talent but are enticed by the commercial benefits Bale’s name could provide.
Under Financial Fair Play regulations, however, the Bavarians may struggle to match Bale’s £300k per-week salary.
