Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea complete a sensational transfer u-turn by signing an new bumper contract at Old Trafford, according to the Daily Star.
The Spain international came within minutes of completing a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid on deadline day, but an administrative blunder by both clubs saw the deal dramatically collapse at the death.
And now with the 24-year-old having to return to the Red Devils and Real president Florentino Perez claiming he won’t return for the goalkeeper in January, the Daily Star are now claiming De Gea could decided to sign a renewed deal to remain in Manchester.
The Daily Star believe such a contract would see his current £35,000-a-week salary increase significantly.
De Gea was forced to watch Man United’s first four games of the new Premier League from the stands because “he wasn’t focused enough,” according to boss Louis van Gaal.
But he is expected to return to the starting line-up in place of summer signing Sergio Romero in Saturday’s huge Premier League meeting with rivals Liverpool.
